While inspiring, encouraging, and supporting young athletes, the David Phillips Foundation strives to share Coach David's kind, gentle, and joyful spirit, and dedication to serving others. MISSION The David Phillips Foundation supports and uplifts children and their families through sports and recreation programs that allow them to heal, grow, and play. GUIDING PRINCIPLE Through play, children learn, grow, connect, and heal. Play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood. ~ Fred Rogers |
OUR WORK IS PLAY
DPF funds free after-school sports and recreation programs in AISD Title-I schools, offering children who wouldn't otherwise have access, opportunities to "play." IMPACT DPF currently offers programs in eight Title-I schools, providing over 300 children with sports and recreation, and opportunities to "play." Additionally, DPF employs teachers and coaches as program leaders, providing them with supplemental income, while also helping to strengthen student teacher relations, and improve school community connectedness. FUTURE PLANS DPF plans to launch four more programs, and double the number of students we serve, in 2025. We also have plans to begin our work to support families who have suffered the loss of a parent. |
