Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 5K Relay work?
There are 2 relay divisions: Competitive (intended for high school/college competitive athletes) and Open & Family (anyone who wants to run for fun, and open to all ages!)
You will form a team of 3 people. In other words, you + 2 friends/family members/coworkers/etc. Each person on the team will run the 1-mile out and back course one at a time. For example, Person A runs the 1-mile course, then passes the baton to Person B who runs the 1-mile course, then passes it to Person C who runs the 1-mile course. After each person has run the course, your team has completed the 5K relay (3 miles total).

How do you register for the 5K Relay?
One person will register the whole team. If you are the team member registering your team, you will need to know your team members' name, email address, t-shirt size, and birthday. You will then pick a team name, and indicate if your group is part of a running club or a school.

Can kids participate in the 5K Relay?
Yes!
Note: The Kids' Mile Races stay within the heart of the park, giving parents the opportunity to watch their kids the entire time they are running the mile. The Relay, however, is an out and back route that leaves the main park area, going along the Shoal Creek Trail and turning around at Live Oak Meadows.

Are you supposed to participate in the 5K Relay, the Kids' Mile Races, and the Memorial Mile Walk?
You do not have to participate in all of the events. You can choose to attend just for a Kids' Mile race, or just for the 5K Relay, or you can come out just to walk the Memorial Mile. If you register for ANY event, you are invited to join us for the 6th annual Memorial Mile Walk to conclude the morning festivities.
